Biblical Authority

The Bible is the inspired word of God. Scripture contains all instructions necessary for salvation. Our beliefs and missions are to adhere to Biblical teachings. These books are necessary for faith and the life of the believer for they contain the will of God.

Trinity

We believe in one true omnipotent God, who is holy, loving, and eternal and who is the creator of all things. The Trinity consists of three persons who are distinct but separate– the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God

Accepted Answer

God is the creator, redeemer, and sustainer of all things. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are the Trinity. Although they are distinct and separate from each other, they are of the same will for the redemption of God’s people. God is the one, infinite, and eternal being. With Him, every attribute in the scriptures is fulfilled.

Christ

Jesus Christ is God’s son, who is to establish a relationship between God and all of mankind. Christ is the image of the Father, born of the Virgin Mary, who has fulfilled all righteousness. He did on the cross for the sins of humanity. He physically rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of God, where he intercedes for believers. The Son secures salvation through the atoning work of his life and death.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son and is representative of the power of love of God. By dwelling in every person, the Holy Spirit leads us in holiness and righteousness.

Salvation

Accepted Answer

Christ’s atoning death on the cross provided the only salvation from sin. We must repent of our sins and express our belief in Christ as our Savior to be saved. Belief in Christ is the only way to eternal life in Heaven.

The Means of Grace

The ordinary means of grace are Scripture, both read and preached, prayer, and the sacraments. The means of grace are those regular means by which the believer communes with God and receives grace.

Second Coming

We believe in the return of Christ to earth. At this time, He will fulfill all prophecies made about Him in scripture. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the just will receive eternal life, while the unjust will receive damnation.

Sacraments

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper represent Christian faith. Baptism is a sign of God’s grace, showing that the person accepts the benefits of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. Just as Christ was baptized, our baptism joins us with Christ as we receive His grace and righteousness. The Lord’s Supper signifies redemption through Christ’s death and belief in His return. The signs of bread and wine bear witness to Christ’s body being broken and His blood that was shed for the sins of His people. Holy Communion is open to all people who desire to turn away from sin and turn back to God.

Marriage

God’s plan was for marriage to be between one man and one woman. It is to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church. God considered marriage the relationship for the birth and raising of children. Sexual immorality is often the first step for people who rebel against God.

Good Works

No good works prior to salvation bring glory to God. Good works cannot save us from our sin; rather they reflect our love of and faith in Jesus Christ. Good works are the result of our abundant love of God, which allow us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Diversity

Every person is loved by God. We welcome people who offer varying personalities, races, talents, and perspectives. We are called to be faithful to the example of Jesus’ ministry to love all His people. It is our mutual love of Christ that bonds us together.

Question 13

The Church

Accepted Answer

The Church is the body of believers who have been called to be a part of the body of Christ. The Church represents truth for the world and declares the truth and glory of God. The Church is made up of true believers and unbelievers. Only God knows an individual’s heart. Anyone who confesses faith in Christ, who holds fast to the scriptures, and who loves and serves the church will be received into membership. Those who have not received salvation will be handed over to the judge at the end of time.
